Shanenawa — “Shane” maens bird bluish color and “Nava” means people.
This tribe has extensive knowledge in the field of medicinal herbs of the Amazon forest.

Tribe Shanenawa work with Ayahuasca, they retained knowledge of their ancestors and continue to pass them on from generation to generation.
With Ayahuasca they communicate with the spirits of their ancestors and the spirits of nature, get help in solving their problems.
Alaska used as medicine, since they believe that by use of the drink can boost the Spirit and make the body healthy.

The Shanenawa people speak the language Shanenawa, which belongs to the Pano language family. This language is used only by elderly people, while young people and children speak Portuguese.

They live in the Brazilian state of Acre, in its Central-Northern part, along the Envira river, a tributary of the Tarauacá. According to the elders, Shanenawa migrated to this region from other areas, in the early years of the twentieth century because of the persecution of the rubber tappers.

Shanenawa created with the support of other indigenous ethnic groups of the region is a very active organization for the protection of the interests of indigenous peoples.
